As our Faculty, we participated in the panel “Strengthening Together Against Violence”.

As Bucak Faculty of Computer and Information, We Participated in the “Strengthening Together Against Violence” Panel. On Wednesday, November 27, between 13.30-15.00, we participated intensively as the staff and students of Bucak Faculty of Computer and Information in the panel titled “Strengthening Together Against Violence” held at the MAKÜ Bucak Hikmet Tolunay Vocational School Conference Hall. This meaningful panel, organized by MAKÜ Women's Issues Research and Application Center (KASAUM), was held to address an important issue of our society and to raise awareness on this matter. The panel was chaired by MAKÜ KASAUM Director Prof. Dr. Firdevs Savi ÇAKAR, while expert panelists discussed different aspects of violence and solutions in detail. The first speaker of the panel, Prof. Dr. Hülya YAZICI from MAKÜ Faculty of Education, shared striking information about the social and individual dimensions of violence in her presentation titled “The Language of Violence.” Yazıcı emphasized that violence should be addressed not only physically but also in its psychological, economic, and social dimensions. Subsequently, Specialist Psychological Counselor Umut AYDOĞDU from Burdur Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services provided comprehensive information to the participants about the underlying causes of domestic violence and its effects on individuals and families in his presentation titled “Causes and Consequences of Domestic Violence.” He offered suggestions on how family dynamics can be transformed into a healthy structure. Dr. Lecturer Endam ÇETİNKAYA AK from Bucak School of Health focused on this important issue, especially prevalent among young people, in her talk titled “Dating Violence.” Çetinkaya Ak explained the types of violence experienced in dating relationships, the signs of this violence, and ways to prevent it with examples. Finally, panel chair Prof. Dr. Firdevs SAVİ ÇAKAR, in her presentation titled “Coping with the Impact of Violence,” discussed coping strategies that can be used to reduce the effects of violence on individuals and society. Çakar concluded the panel by explaining the steps individuals can take to protect themselves and those around them against violence. The panel provided participants with a valuable opportunity to understand different aspects of the issue of violence. As Bucak Faculty of Computer and Information, the participation of our students and staff in this panel was an important step in developing sensitivity to social issues and raising awareness on these matters. The presentations made during the panel provided participants with both an awareness-raising and educational experience. We believe in the importance of raising awareness in the fight against violence and think that such events should be held more frequently to increase social awareness. As a faculty, we will continue to participate in such events and support our students in this regard.
